Perennial Leader of Graded Stakes Winners 7/11/2008
Nearly 7% of all Runnymede Farm sales graduates from the years 2001-2005 became graded stakes winners, solidly placing the farm third among all consignors by percentage of graded winners. By percentage, the farm was the co-leader with a total of five graded stakes winners during this period.
These statistics were compiled in the annual review of yearling sales in the Blood Horse’s June 6th issue of Market Watch.
The strong group of yearlings commanded a sales average of $180,209, placing Runnymede within the top ten consignors by average price.
Under the microscope, Runnymede Farm’s statistical line reveals quality. Of the 74 yearlings offered during the five-year period, 60 of them (or 81%) made it to the races. And of those 60 runners, 53 graduated at least the maiden ranks for an incredible 88% success rate. Nearly a fourth of the winners were juveniles, and almost a fifth earned more than $100,000 in their career.
Even more impressive is the fact that 19 of the 74 graduates became stakes performers for a 25.7% rate. Eight of the 53 winners are stakes winners (15%), and five of those eight actually won a graded stakes, with two reaching the ultimate Grade I status.
