An Incredible Adventure

Runnymede-bred and -owned Adventure, a 12-year-old daughter of Unbridled’s Song who already has produced Irish Group 2 winner and classic-placed Laughing Lashes, brought a final bid of 260,000 guineas (approximately $447,463) during Tattersalls’ mare sale in Newmarket on December 3.

Bloodstock agent Hugo Merry, representing New York-based fashion executive Andrew Rosen, lodged the successful bid for the statuesque gray mare, who is in foal to leading international sire Dubawi. Adventure was consigned for Runnymede by Kiltinan Castle Stud of Ireland.Adventure at Tattersalls (Michele MacDonald photo)

Twice a winner at three, Adventure produced Laughing Lashes, a daughter of Mr. Greeley, in 2008 as her second foal, and the filly subsequently was sold at Keeneland for $100,000 as a yearling. While a juvenile, Laughing Lashes won the Keeneland Debutante Stakes (G2) at the Curragh and later placed in the Moyglare Stud Stakes (G1) as well as in the classic Irish One Thousand Guineas (G1) the following season.

Another filly out of Adventure, her First Samurai daughter foaled in 2009 and later named Muqantara, was sold at the 2010 Keeneland September yearling sale for $450,000, and her Dalakhani colt born in 2011 and later named Adventure Seeker was sold at the 2012 Tattersalls October yearling sale for $136,213.

Adventure produced a colt by European champion Sea The Stars this spring and he is slated to be sold as a yearling next year, further adding to the bounty that Adventure has provided to Runnymede. Including her sale at Tattersalls, Adventure and her produce already have provided over $1 million to the farm.

A product of one of Runnymede’s most significant foundation families, Adventure is a daughter of the Seattle Dancer mare Palace Weekend, who still is a member of Runnymede’s international broodmare band at age 18, and she is a half sister to Group 1 winner Palace Episode. This is the immediate family of Kentucky Derby (G1) runner-up and millionaire Tejano Run, Grade 1 winner Spring in the Air and Runnymede’s multiple graded stakes winner Bizzy Caroline.
