Fresh off a strong rally that just missed in the Valley View Stakes (G3) at Keeneland on October 21, Bizzy Caroline returns as one of the favorites in the $175,000 Mrs. Revere Stakes (G2) over 1 1/16 miles on turf at Churchill Downs on November 12.
Bred by Runnymede with farm Chairman Catesby W. Clay and racing in Clay’s name, Bizzy Caroline clearly relishes the Churchill grass as she handily won the Regret Stakes (G3) on the course this spring.
After drawing post two with regular rider Manoel Cruz, Bizzy Caroline was made the 4-1 co-second choice in the Mrs. Revere behind 5-2 favorite Marketing Mix, who is coming off a runner-up effort in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes (G1) at Keeneland. Leading rider Julien Leparoux will be aboard Marketing Mix and break from post ten.
Hungry Island, a Grade 2 winner at Saratoga, will start from the inside post with jockey Corey Nakatani and is the co-second favorite with Bizzy Caroline.
The field of a dozen three-year-old fillies is jammed with talent. Smart Sting, a daughter of Smart Strike and champion turf mare Perfect Sting, has twice won Grade 3 stakes at Woodbine and is listed at 5-1 on the morning line. Groupie Doll, who won the Gardenia Stakes (G3) at Ellis Park and was second by a nose in the Raven Run Stakes (G2) at Keeneland, is rated at 10-1.
Bizzy Caroline has won three of her seven starts this season and placed twice, including her rallying effort in the Valley View that fell short by just a half-length, and her career earnings stand at $183,497. By Afleet Alex and out of our mare Sacre Coeur, by Saint Ballado, she is trained by Ken McPeek.
In preparing for the Mrs. Revere, Bizzy Caroline worked a bullet five furlongs at Keeneland on November 5, stopping the clock in 1:01.40 on the Polytrack.
