With yearling sale season now in full swing, Runnymede will make its second foray into the premium French market on August 18 with a lovely filly by top European sire Invincible Spirit out of our Group 1 producer Palace Weekend.
The French-bred bay filly, who is a half sister to Racing Post Trophy (G1) winner Palace Episode as well as to Adventure, dam of Irish Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1-placed Laughing Lashes, will be offered as Hip 41 at Arqana’s prestigious Deauville sale. The session, first of the select portion of the sale, begins at 5 p.m. local time.
“Very typical of her sire’s best runners, she is beautifully conformed with a gorgeous stride, and she looks very much the racehorse,” said Martin O’Dowd, Runnymede Vice President and General Manager.
Consigned by Haras d’Ommeel, the French farm where Runnymede boards mares, the filly represents one of Runnymede’s most distinguished families. Her second dam produced millionaire Tejano Run, who finished second in the Kentucky Derby (G1) and third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), as well as Jersey Derby (G2) winner More Royal.
Invincible Spirit, a top sprinter, has sired a diversity of talented runners, including Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) (G1) winner and sire Lawman and current sprinting star and multiple Group 1 winner Moonlight Cloud.
Runnymede previously sold an Oasis Dream colt during the 2010 Deauville sale. An Irish-bred son of Oasis Dream out of Seek Easy, by Seeking the Gold, the colt was purchased for €250,000 ($320,675) and has won two races this year for Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa al Nahyan of the Abu Dhabi ruling family and his trainer, Sir Henry Cecil.
