Eighteen yearlings carrying the Runnymede banner are set to enter the ring at Keeneland’s world-renowned September yearling sale that begins on September 9 and extends until September 21, including three in the sale’s prestigious Book 1.
Colts by international sire More Than Ready, first-year sire Eskendereya and leading sire Street Cry are in Book 1 and currently are being shown at Barn 29.
The More Than Ready colt, Hip 119 on the first day of the sale, is out of the Danehill mare Josette, already dam of two group stakes performers in Japan, and he is from the immediate family of champion and top sire Blushing Groom. When crossed with Danehill mares, More Than Ready has been extremely successful, with progeny including Group 1 winners Benicio, Dreamaway, More Than Sacred and Perfectly Ready.
The Eskendreya colt, Hip 650 during the third sale session, is out of the Kingmambo mare Alcina. A robust and well made individual, his family includes French Group 1 performer Mamalik and American graded stakes-winning sprinter Mr. Nightlinger.
Catalogued as Hip 700, the Street Cry colt is the first foal of stakes winner Beautician, runner-up in the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) and the Spinaway Stakes (G1), and an earner of $636,175. By Dehere, Beautician is a half sister to 2013 stakes winner Bella Castani and she is from the family of multiple Grade 2 winner Kashatreya.
Runnymede’s other yearlings in the sale include a Divine Park half sister to multiple graded stakes winner Bizzy Caroline, catalogued as Hip 1086; a Midnight Lute filly out of a full sister to Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner Wilko, Hip 1221; a Street Sense colt who is a half brother to Grade 1-placed stakes winner Pinch Pie and to three other stakes-placed runners, Hip 1080; and an Unbridled’s Song colt out of Grade 3 winner Meribel, Hip 1822.
