Koala Princess Finishes Third in the Lake George
Monday, July 25, 2022
Koala Princess, the three-year-old dark bay filly by More Than Ready out of the Lonhro (AUS) mare, Koala Queen, finished third in the Lake George Stakes (Gr. 3) at Saratoga on Friday, July 22nd. This was the filly's first race since running in the 2021 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (Gr. 1) in November. The filly opened her racing career with a maiden triumph at Monmouth Park turf last August. She followed that with a win in the $500,000 Ainsworth Stakes at Kentucky Downs.  Facing eight challengers in the one-mile test on the inner turf, Koala Princess broke from post position four with jockey Trevor McCarthy at the reins. The filly was bumped hard by an opponent at the start, allowing her competition to take the inside and fell towards the back. McCarthy pulled her off the rail at the far turn and the pair roused four wide into the stretch, chased down Dolce Zel and Eminent Victor and finished willingly just one 1 and 3/4 lengths short in third. A very exciting return for Koala Princess!
