Disruptor Earns First Graded Stakes Victory in GIII Challenger Stakes
Monday, March 9, 2026

Runnymede Farm-bred, raised and sold Disruptor, captured his first graded stakes victory on March 7 in the Grade III Michelob Ultra Challenger Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. The 4-year-old son of Gun Runner, ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr. and trained by Todd Pletcher, showed determination in the stretch to defeat heavy favorite Disco Time.

Disruptor broke sharply and stayed prominent early before reclaiming the lead on the far turn. In the stretch, Disco Time appeared poised to take control, but Disruptor fought back gamely and edged clear late to secure the win in 1:41.40 for 1 1/16 miles, earning a 102 Beyer Speed Figure.

The victory marked Disruptor’s first graded stakes win and improved his record to three wins from five starts. The $1.15-million Keeneland September graduate had previously been named a TDN Rising Star after an impressive maiden victory at Gulfstream Park and returned to graded company this year following time off after the 2025 Florida Derby.

Disruptor was bred in Kentucky by Runnymede Farm and Peter J. Callahan.  Disruptor’s dam, Margate Gardens, is due to foal a Candy Ride offspring this spring. She is also scheduled to visit Runnymede-bred, Goal Oriented, for the 2026 breeding season.
