Dream Warrior Breaks Maiden
Friday, August 11, 2023
Dream Warrior had her first win in an exciting maiden special weight at Presque Isle Downs yesterday, August 10th. The three-year-old daughter of Will Take Charge out of Scat Daddy mare, Dream to Dream, was bred by Runnymede Farm in partnership with Peter J. Callahan, Manlius Stables, and Bill Oppenheim. The chestnut filly who has some striking white markings was consigned in the 2021 Keeneland September sale for $87,000 and was sold to Vision Equine. The filly is now owned by Commonwealth New Era Racing and is in training with W. John Bourke. She made her first start back in June, in a maiden special weight at Presque Isle but was ultimately not successful and finished seventh out of eight. Taking what she learned from her previous start, the filly ran in another maiden special weight in July and finished second. It was a close race, finishing behind the leader by a neck. After nearly making it to the winner’s circle, Dream Warrior was ready for battle yet again, when she broke from post two out of a field of seven for the six-furlong maiden special weight on the all-weather track yesterday. Jockey Angel Stanley was in the saddle and used the inside position to his advantage, racing along the rail and keeping pace with the leader. At the final turn, he brought the filly in two wide, dueled with a foe, but pulled ahead late in the stretch; just in time to finish ahead by one and a half lengths. Congratulations to all of Dream Warrior’s connections! We are excited to see her continued success!
