The three-year-old Good Magic colt out of Puca, bred by Grandview Equine, impressed with a flashy victory for his career debut in a seven-furlong maiden special weight on January 28th at Gulfstream Park on Pegasus Day! Mage was consigned by Runnymede Farm at the Keeneland September sale in 2021, and was sold to New Team for $235,000. He then went on to be sold at the Fasig Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale last year. Consigned by Sequel Bloodstock, the chestnut colt sold for $290,000 to OGMA Investments. Mage is now owned by OGMA Investments LLC, Restrepo, Ramiro, Sterling Racing LLC, and CMNWLTH Racing. Now trained by Gustavo Delgado, Mage beat the betting public odds of 11-1 in his debut start. The seven-furlong maiden special weight will took place on the main dirt track. Multiple Graded Stakes-winning jockey, Edgar Perez was along for the ride. Perez had been in the saddle for the colt's last five workouts. They had a near-bullet workout last week, running five furlongs in 1:01.02, and finished four furlongs in 49.25 over the weekend. Perez and the chestnut colt broke from post two, avoiding trouble with a forward ride right out of the gait, setting the early pace from just off the rail. Mage hit his stride after passing the quarter pole, drew off nicely, and finished 3 ¾ lengths ahead of the competition! Congratulations to all of his connections on an exciting start to Mage’s career! We hope to see him in the winner's circle again soon!
