Summer Is Tomorrow Draws Post 4 in 2022 Kentucky Derby
Friday, May 6, 2022

Saturday is a very exciting day for a 2020 Runnymede Sales graduate, Summer Is Tomorrow. The three year old bay colt by Summer Front out of Always Tomorrow was purchased by the Falguieres Woods pinhooking venture at the November Breeding Stock sale at Keeneland in 2019. From there he was raised and prepped by our sales team under Runnymede's President, Romain Malhouitre.  After being sold privately at the September yearling sale, the colt went on to have a career based in Dubai. He finished second in March to Derby rival Crown Pride in the UAE Derby (GII) going 1 3/16 miles, earning enough points to run in the Kentucky Derby. Since arriving at Churchill, the colt has put in a half a mile workout in. With Caroline Seemar, wife of trainer Bhupat Seemar, aboard, Summer Is Tomorrow was timed in fractions of :13.60, :25.80, :49.20 and galloped out five furlongs in 1:02. The work was the sixth fastest of 21 at the distance. “I am very happy with the work,” Bhupat Seemar said. “I got him a little faster. It was a nice move and a strong finish. I expect him to improve off that race, which was his first two-turn race,” Seemar said. “He will be a much fitter horse for this race.” Summer Is Tomorrow drew post 4 and will be ridden by jockey Mickael Barzalona, who was also aboard in the UAE Derby at Meydan.
