October 19, 2017: In his first start as a two year old, Ciaran (Malibu Moon/Bizzy Caroline) showed true grit and impressive turn of foot over the main track at Keeneland. Last by about two lengths going into the far turn, jockey Fergal Lynch took the colt wide around the field into the middle of the track. Lady Eli Up in Time to Capture Diana

The undisputed darling of the American turf, Lady Eli was back to her tenacious best in Saturday’s Diana S.–the first of 17 Grade Is on the flat at Saratoga this summer–as she looked pacesetting Quidura in the eye with about 40 yards to race, pinned her ears and stuck her head across the wire first.

Just before midnight on January 17, the most important, exciting and nerve-wracking time of the year began in earnest at Runnymede.

The first member of our 2017 crop arrived in the deep straw in our foaling barn when the aptly named Unbridled’s Song mare O Beautiful lay down and gave birth to a strong, handsome colt by Hard Spun.

He will be one of 30 foals we expect this year at the farm. All will enchant us with their big eyes, their soft muzzles, their long wobbly legs. ...

Among many other things, Brutus J. Clay III is a runner, and he likes to watch dawn break as he cruises through his family's farm. Along the way he will stop to document a beautiful sunrise or a quizzical horse watching his efforts. He posts the best photos onto the farm's Instagram account, which is a sentence his predecessors legitimately couldn't even being to understand...

When a bay filly by Saint Ballado was foaled at Runnymede in the cold of January in 2000, no one could have forecast how she might influence the future of the farm.

But it was clear she was something special. She was born with a white star on her forehead that looked just like a heart, an unusual marking that both distinguished her and endeared her to Runnymede’s Catesby W. Clay, who is listed on her Jockey Club papers as co-breeder along with the farm.

When the filly ...
